Privacy & Email Terms

This page explains what happens to the email address you provide when you subscribe to A Chat With AI. It covers only email subscriptions — the surface most people are consenting to when they click "Subscribe."

What we collect

When you subscribe, we store a single record containing:

  • Your email address.
  • Your subscription status and the related timestamps — when you subscribed, when you confirmed, and, if applicable, when you unsubscribed.
  • A record of your consent: that you accepted these terms and which version of them.
  • The source — which part of the site you subscribed from (for example, the header).
  • Two random tokens we generate for your subscription: one to confirm your email and one to power your one-click unsubscribe links. These are random identifiers, not information about you.
  • Basic request metadata (IP address and browser user-agent) kept as a consent audit trail.

The subscribe form asks only for your email address — we do not ask you to provide your name or any other personal information.

How we use it

Your email is used for one purpose: to send you a message when a new article is published on A Chat With AI. We use a double opt-in process — after you subscribe, we email you a confirmation link, and no article emails are sent until you click it.

What we don't do

We do not sell, rent, or trade your email address. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not share it with third parties except the email delivery provider (Resend) and database host (Supabase) strictly needed to store your subscription and send the emails you asked for.

Unsubscribing

You can unsubscribe at any time. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and there is an unsubscribe page linked in the site footer where you can opt out by entering your email. Once you unsubscribe, we stop sending you article emails.

Data retention & requests

We keep your subscription record while you are subscribed and, for unsubscribed addresses, retain a minimal record to honor your opt-out. If you would like your record deleted entirely, contact us via the contact page.

Changes to these terms

If we materially change how subscription data is handled, we will update this page and the version associated with new consents. Continued subscription after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms; if you disagree, you can unsubscribe at any time.
