Ethics Policy

Editorial Independence

All editorial decisions at A Chat With AI are made independently by Patrick Roden. No external party — including advertisers, sponsors, partners, or affiliates — has influence over what we publish, how we frame our analysis, or which topics we cover.

Our editorial calendar is driven by the author's direct experience, ongoing projects, and the topics most relevant to our readership. We do not accept payment in exchange for editorial coverage.

Conflicts of Interest Disclosure

Transparency about potential conflicts of interest is central to our editorial practice. The following interests are disclosed:

  • Patrick Roden is the founder and CIO/CEO of On Top Home Services LLC, the company implementing the SQUEIL project. Articles discussing SQUEIL, On Top Home Services, or related technologies reflect the author's direct involvement in these ventures.
  • Build narratives and SQUEIL-related content are explicitly labeled as founder letters or build logs. These are first-person accounts, not independent third-party reviews.
  • When reviewing or discussing tools, platforms, or services that the author uses in a business capacity, this relationship is noted in the article.

We believe disclosing these interests — rather than hiding them — is the most honest approach. Readers can factor our perspective into their assessment of any given article.

Advertising and Sponsorship

A Chat With AI does not currently accept advertising or sponsorship.

If and when A Chat With AI accepts advertising or sponsorship, the following principles will apply:

  • Advertising and sponsored content will be clearly labeled and visually distinguished from editorial content.
  • Advertisers and sponsors will have no influence over editorial decisions or content.
  • Affiliate links, if used, will be disclosed at the point of use.

Editorial Content and Business Interests

A Chat With AI covers topics that intersect with the author's business interests in SQUEIL and On Top Home Services. We manage this relationship as follows:

  • Articles about SQUEIL are presented as build narratives and founder commentary, not as independent product reviews.
  • The author's business role is stated in the About page and referenced in relevant articles.
  • We do not present promotional content as independent editorial analysis.
  • Readers are encouraged to evaluate our claims critically and to consult additional sources when making decisions based on our content.
